Greetings, I am Aleksey and I am a hybrid creative currently working at Meta as a Design Lead on WhatsApp & Messenger, reporting into Consumer Marketing.

My superpower is being able to bridge the gap between product and marketing due to my diverse creative background spanning art direction, UI&UX, brand design and previously starting my own web design business.

I live in Seattle with my wife and our energetic 2 year old golden retriever. In my spare time I can be found smoking meats in my backyard smoker, tri-tip champion, searching for latest Adidas track jacket to complete my collection. And exploring the great outdoors as often as I can.

Global Design Lead Brand, on WhatsApp & Messenger

  • Working on finalizing the first ever brand design system for WhatsApp, developed by Koto design. It goal is to create a unified visual language between marketing and product, to give our global partners the flexibility and tools to implement the design system. Currently in the process of socializing the brand design system across internal teams at Meta, as well as our global advertising partners.

  • As a Design Lead on Messenger brand reporting to Consumer Marketing team my role is to help define the Messenger Brand globally and to build a bridge between marketing and product. I collaborate closely with the product team, product marketing managers and research to validate a cohesive visual experience. Currently working with Buck Design on the brand design system.

  • Overseeing large scope projects for Messenger: Music Activation with Steve Aoki and Travis Barker, That Close campaign visual system.

  • Like one of Facebook values “MOVE FAST”, I work on numerous fast moving projects at a time. Requiring me to take one different roles and ownership to deliver the projects. From creative oversight of external vendors, art direction on video spots, validating design and UX system through strategy and best practices and motion design.

  • Build cross team collaboration by establishing a brand sync meeting on Messenger Kids, allowing for more cohesive brand user experience from Marketing to Product.

  • Worked on Messenger Kids on platform video content from concept, research through production and editing.

  • Brand Design Lead on the Messenger M4 rebrand. Responsible for developing the guidelines and socialization of the brand book.

FREELANCE SENIOR ART DIRECTOR/DESIGNER

  • Was embedded at a fast paced, collaborative design agency within Google. Working on strategy and visual execution for both brand & product while maintaining the Google brand tone and visual identity.

  • Worked with the Google Next Billion Users international team, creating product and marketing deliverables for applications aimed at addressing markets in India, Pakistan and Philippines.

  • Manage client and vendor relationships through close collaboration on strategy and design executions from brief kickoff to final delivery. Responsible for design and creation of client-facing presentations.

  • Created a Brand Playbook for a Google Express on-boarding tool to inspire and inform both PMMs and design vendors. The goal was to reinforce the brand and create an even better customer experience.

  • Developed interactive prototypes for a variety of digital executions to help the client visualize the interactions and help sell the work to leadership.

  • Projects include: Google Hardware CRM, Google Express, Google Analytics and other Google products.

  • Design Lead for Wells Fargo Credit Card Experience: created responsive interface assets, prototyped designs (Marvel), lead client presentations and managed a team of designers/content creators to help with final deliverables

  • Collaborated and communicated with copywriters, UX designers, developers along with client delivery managers to ensure quality in all aspects of campaign execution

  • Concepted how new technology can be best utilized to solve client goals

  • Worked on successful pitch on Foster Farms digital account and subsequent Design Lead on conceptual work, digital executions and social content, including establishing a photography style for social recipe posts

  • Co-founded a web design agency in Metro Detroit specializing in design and build of content management websites using Wordpress for local magazines, music venues and non-profit organizations.

  • As the co-founder/creative director I was responsible for client management, creative vision, and managing developers.

  • Social media training for our clients and most importantly educated them how to use these digital tools effectively to grow our clienteles business. Showed profit of $20,000 in the second year.

Working at the agency of record for Chevy, US Navy, US Mint, US Postal Service I was part of the digital vision working first as a Flash designer/developer before transitioning into digital art direction.
